Link: Unwanted Birth/Death/Marriage Certificates for Scotland
« on: Thursday 27 September 07 14:37 BST (UK) »
I know that there is a page on rootschat to post unwanted B/D/M certificates, but I use www.sctbdm.com to submit my unwanted certificates. It is maintained by a lady called Sue Lund who has no personal experience of Scottish Family History, but has an ancestral connection to Scotland.

The aim of the site is to post unwanted certs and contact the submitter direct for the information. Over the years I have managed to obtain a few and am now in the process of submitting all my unwanted certs in the hope that I can be of some use to other researchers out there.

Take a look and see if you find it useful - I certainly did.

Glad you found it useful - haven't been on it for a while so will need to update my lists. You have just spurred me on and reminded me to do it.

I noticed that if I add data to the site, my email address is shown though, so I didn`t add any.

The whole point of putting unwanted B M & D certs on here is so that fellow researchers can contact you direct for you to send them a copy through. I take it you don't want your e-mail address to shown then. Other fellow researchers could be missing out on something they have been looking for. I have 2 e-mail addresses - 1 I use for this kind of thing where a lot of my junk mail goes to and the other is my personal one that I don't poublish on internet sites. You may consider doing that.

Hi all

What a brilliant idea :)  Shame it doesn't feature abit more prominently in the Scotland Resources section, but I've passed the link on to my 'cousins' anyway :)

I've already found one relevant record that I've been in touch about :) and another one (maybe two) where the request was returned 'notdeliverable' :-[

It would be a real help if contributors could remember to update their email contact addresses if/and/or when they change them ::)

Regards

Aye mair questions than answers in a world where the past was a different place - that cannae be revisited!

Family surnames being researched ...
Crawford, Neilson, Lindsay, Reekie, Davidson
Drummond, Laing, Pearson, Tulloch ... will do for starters but there's a whole lot more!

The problem is that I put all the certs I have on there and used a new email address I created just for that reason (as suggested by Diane)  - but now I get approximately 25 spam emails every day to it, which is a bit of a pain.

Maybe they should do the same as other websites and use `at` instead of @ to stop spammers.
