I have ancestors who lived around Duns, some of whom were in Foulden/Mordington. Can you lookup for me references to FORD / FOORD? It may help me figure out some of the ancestry of the family...

P.S. Below are my research notes...
For over 100 years many generations of Foords had worked as tenant farmers, wrights and hinds (laborers) in the 15-mile stretch of farmland between Duns and Berwick-on-Tweed on the coast in England. Parish records trace Foord ancestors back to the 1600’s living and working in the County. Little did John realize his would be the last generation of his family to work as a farmer in Berwickshire.

As a young adult ‘John Foord’ was a resident of Foulden Parish; he married Isabella Thompson of neighbouring Mordington Parish in the summer of 1835. [The older records are more likely to spell the surnames as Foord and Thomson]. The minister was Mr Aire the burgher minister for Ayton.

The following year his oldest daughter Elizabeth Ford was born nearby in Mordington, which was the same parish her mother was from; the rest of his children were all born in Swinton Parish. John had moved to be the overseer of Swinton House circa 1837. This was a significant job opportunity with responsibilities managing an estate. Clearly John was distinguishing himself to have been given this position. By the time of the 1841 Census he was 39 years old, married and with 5 children.

In Foulden there is   

"Here lyes the body of DAVID, son to John FOORD and Margaret WILSON who died 15.1.1769 aged 11 years."

on the reverse

"In memory of Benjamin FOORD who died 27.1.1734 aged 28 years."

They are the only FOORD's recorded there.

I am trying to find information on John Burns married to Agness Burnet and their children, particularly David, would you mind seeing if you have any death information in your MIs? David born 1787.

Ive checked through Foulden and Mordington, and although there are a few Burns in there I'm sorry the ones you are looking for aren't. I also looked at Ayton as well.
There is a very old stone in Foulden for BURNET..not the one you have but thought I would give you it anyway for the future just in case...

Here lyes the corps of James,John, Catherin Burnets, children to John Burnet.

No dates given.

I'm grasping at straws because family lore tells that my g-g-grandfather David Burns went to Cork, Ireland from the border counties in the early 1800s, I have his death date as 1869 aged 84 in Cork. the only record that fits is a David born in Foulden in 1787 to John Burns and Agness Burnet. Other children were Jane, Agness and Thomas, but I can't find anymore about the family.

Just a quick piccie of a couple of some older stones in Foulden churchyard. Note that there are several gaps suggesting a lot of stones may have been lost over the years and old and new stones can be found almost in adjacent plots too.

By the look of it, someone has been searching for particular stones hence the black paint to enhance the inscriptions??
