Thanks very much for this. I know the first inscription is definitely connected to my family. Andrew Fender died on 31 Jan 1894 not 1834 and Thom... was Thomasina his daughter. I think the second is connected but will need to do some more research to confirm.

Thanks once again.

Regards

Peter

Hi Cavvytri,

Just one more question. With regard to the Fender and Johnston inscriptions was the first grave at Foulden and the second at Mordington or were they both at Foulden?

Regards

Peter

PS: I have confirmed that second inscription is connected to my family so thanks again!

Hi,  I don't know if your kind offer is still open, but if it is...

I am interested in the Smiths who moved to Foulden in the 1850s, ie John Smith who was a master carpenter and his wife Agnes (nee Cassy) whose 10 children were Catherine, Thomas, Isabel, Jane, Christian, Agnes, Isabella, Johnann (my great grandmother), Mary J and Jemima.  I'm also interested in Johnann's husband's family the Raes who farmed at Burnbank at the edge of the village, having moved there between 1871 and 1881 and were Robert Rae (b 1821, died at Burnbank 1900) and his wife Isabella (nee Lough, b 1819/21, died at Burnbank in 1890).  They had 4 children, Elizabeth, Isabel, William, and my great grandfather George Robert Rae.

Regards, Malcolm
Rae in Berwickshire and Roxburghshire (Kelso, Foulden and Lauder areas); Macdonald in Invermoriston; Baillie in Kiltarlity and Glenmoriston, Invernesshire; Neilson, Dickson and Gill in Lanarkshire; Dickson in Kirkintilloch, Lockie in Bonkle; Smith in Langton, Berwickshire and Spott, East Lothian; Cassy in Langton, Berwickshire
