Just had a thought about the occupation of John when he baptised his son John in 1833.

"Bar Keeper" is an American term for staff working in bars & couldn't mean the same in the 1830's as it does today.  So the Occupation could be a "Toll Bar Keeper" could it not?

Also I have looked at the area of the Families abode when Sarah Ann was christened
& I can find only "Stoney Middleton" & "Middleton Dale" that are on the outskirts of Eyam.
Can you have a look at the abode address again to see if it should be "Middleton D Eyam" & not "Middleton P Eyam"

Michael,
The information I have definitely states 'Middleton P eyam'. Could this be 'Parish' or has the vicar misheard what was being said!
I am unable to help you on the otheer things, I only have All Hallows records. That's where most of my ancestors were from.

Michael,
All my Smith family, up to my father, were all baptised, married and buried at All Hallows, Kirkburton. I know that one or two of my other ancestors were baptised etc at the Congregational Church.
You are probabley right about the Quakers not releasing records and, there is only one Lydia Smith baptised at All Hallows, and that was in 1791.
My gggrandfather Aaron lied, according to the 1841 census, in Slant Gate, at Dyson's Quarry. My gggrandfather was a stonemason and he literally fell out of bed and into work!
I went up to kirkburton a couple of years ago and found the cottages where he lived.

My ancestors on the Archer side were:

Bingley Archer - born about 1790 Kirkburton,
Bingley was the son of John Archer (born about 1768 Kirkburton) & Lydia Smith (born about 1771 Kirkburton),
and John was the son of John Archer & Susanna Bingley.

Does anyone have any information about John Archer & Susanna Bingley (eg. dates of birth etc.) or their ancestors?

Any help would be great, thanks ;D

Hi Paul,
I am related to Bingley Archer's youngest brother John Archer. & have traced them back to about 1675.
I have loads & loads of data including copies of wills etc. I also have a photo of the grave headstone of Sussanah Bingley which is at present on the floor inside the Church.
I can let you have copies of everything that I have . You cannot use Rootschat to transfer this across. I will give you my e-mail address so you send me your e-mail address by return.

Looking forward to hearing from you
