I hadn't seen the surname before but googled 'Redican & Leitrim' and got lots of hits. This one gives lots of variations & mentions the form Redican is common in Leitrim:

that's absolutely spot on ;D  because the name came from a Scottish death certificate which listed the deceased parent as Michael GILBOE & Mary REDDICAN  pob Leitrim, Ireland.  Would GILBOE be a common name in Leitrim ???

Only found one Gilboe in Ireland on IGI: Patrick Gilboe born 25 June 1870 Co.Leitrim, son of Michael Gilboe & Mary Redican.
Extending the search to England brings up many more Gilboe/Gilbow entries.

Found this which might help:

Was wondering if the Mary Gilboe I found in Census index is Michael's widow.

what census did you find Mary on ???

PS.  I checked out the GILBOE surname and it may well have started in Ireland as GILBOY.

Sorry, link I gave earlier didn't work. Try this one:
www.leitrim-roscommon.com/1901census/census.shtml
1901 census index lists a Mary Gilboe age 60 widow born Co. Roscommon living in Kilbrockan townland, Kiltoghert Parish, Co. Leitrim

I know of a Redican family in NZ.  Did any of your family immigrate?
