Hello again, Crookedtail.

As I said in my earlier pm, William and Jane were my gt grandparents. Regarding Margaret, or Maggie, as you have found her, I am assuming this was the 1901 census. I note that it states living in Govan. This could well be the case.
I have Margaret giving birth to a son, William, whilst living in Coatbridge, in 1903. In 1904, Margaret and William's father, John Smith, marry at Plantation Street ,Govan. Margaret's age is given as 26.
Sadly, she died in 1909.

Hello again Crookedtail.
Another challenge, and believe it or not, relating to another gt gt grandmother, this time on my mother's side.
My great grandfather,  JAMES MORRISON, was born in Edinburgh, Jan 1866.
His parents are named as William and Ann Morrison. On James birth certificate, his parent's date and place of marriage is given as  April 26th 1865, Dundee.
I cannot find their marriage anywhere.
When Ann died,(cannot put my hand on her death certificate c 1878)she is listed being married to William. When William subsequently marries Elizabeth Aitken, c 1888, he is listed as being a widower at time of marriage.
If William and Ann had not infact, been married, would they be referred to as such at death and remarriage?

Hope that you can shed some light on things for me.

Many thanks again

Gail :)

Gail,

Here is a Mary Pender I found it could be your grams

Mary Pender
Born: March 16,1856
Place: Old Monkland
Daughter of...
John Pender
Margaret McAllister

Since she had a daughter first born named Margaret it was
a scottish pattern to name first girl after Maternal grandmother.
