Sorry Shoes - my fault - hadn't read the instructions properly about email addresses.
Will sort out more posts so we can PM.
My link through Mary Ann Yates is her marriage to John Steven, their son James who was father of my grandfather James Yates Steven and my father James McCord Hislop Steven.
I found out the information I have on the Broughton Yates through Ancestry and Google.

Well spikey5, my Mistake too. I wasn't aware of the restriction.
I have now brought my posts over 3, so we should be able to PM.
William, second son of John and Mary took over the running of 'The Nursery' as James, first son, went to Portsmouth to work with his Uncle William Miller.
Looking forward to comparing notes.

Once you've made at least 3 posts you should be able to use PM system (any ones sent to you before this will probably not appear in your inbox).

Hi just started looking for my ex hubby's family tree! my daughter has found they  might of had a Sir Thomas Yates in there so now after 25 years she is interested ::)Found the family in the Wirral 1881 census(Egremont Cheshire) well we think its them, but the name has been mistranscribed as Mates.
Any clues on the William Yates b Lancs 1851?
Look forward to hearing from you

I've just read this board and I thought I would add some information about my Yates ancestors. My Great Great Grandmother was Jane Yates born Airdrie 1834 died Gartsherrie, Coatbridge 1889. She was married to Alexander Gordon. Her parents were William Yates and Catherine Craig and her Grandparents were William Yates and Janet Corbet. All the Yates lived in the Airdrie/Coatbridge area. Does anyone have this branch of the Yates in their family tree?

Thank you
