Maclennan
« on: Wednesday 07 November 07 23:19 GMT (UK) »
:) My Maclennan family lived in Tighnafiline, Aultbea until 1977 when my grandfather William Mackay Maclennan died. :'(

I was wondering if anyone could help me find more of the link in that area, as I have been told that my grandfather moved to the area as he had family there. :D

:'( The connection I have to use for finding family is this, and I am sorry to say a sad one, but if people are aware of a family link to Hectorina Maclennan, who was murdered in London in 1953, I know her to be my aunt. :'(

If you can help in any way I will be most grateful.

Hi oldboysquidge

I wonder if there is a connection to this family - also with a daughter named Hectorina? Maybe your Hectorina was named after her?

1881: Fodderty, Ross and Cromarty
Address; Keithtown Hamlet
ED 7, pg 12, HS 50
Head: Duncan McLENNAN 47, General Labourer
Wife: Ann McLENNAN 43,  b Urquhart, Ross-Shire
Son: William McLENNAN 12, b Fodderty, Ross-Shire
Son: Kenneth McLENNAN 9, b Fodderty, Ross-Shire
Dau: Helen McLENNAN 7, b Fodderty, Ross-Shire
Dau: Catherine McLENNAN 4+half, b Fodderty, Ross-Shire
Dau: Hectorina McLENNAN 2, b Fodderty, Ross-Shire

1891: Fodderty, Ross and Cromarty
Address; Keithtown
ED 7, pg 3, HS 15
Head: Duncan McLENNAN 54, Ag Labourer & Crofter, b Fodderty
Wife: Annie McLENNAN 52, b Fodderty
Dau: Katie McLENNAN or MacLENNAN 15, Domestic Servant, b Fodderty
Dau: Hectorina McLENNAN or MacLENNAN 12, Scholar, b Fodderty

Your  aunt  Hectorina who died 1953 was age 25/26, so born abt 1927?
Her father was William Mackay MacLENNAN born (Glasgow?) abt 1894, her mother was named Marion?

Do you have your Grandfather's marriage certificate for his parents names? Or his death cert which would name both his parents? These may start a link back to the wider MacLENNAN's of Ross - and possibly to the Fodderty ones?

Cheers  ;D

Hello there

I am related through marriage to the MacLennans of Aultbea.  The whole family tree has been found dating back to 1700s and if you get in touch I can show you it.

Kind regards
