1901 census look up

Hi,  I'm looking for my gggrandad Samuel Crossland and his son  Bertie Crossland on the 1901 census.  Sam is on the 1881 census living with his parents Alice and John Crossland at 10, Fairfax st. Basford.  He was born in 1863.  He married Mary Hillery 4T 1887 in Nottingham.  Bertie was born 11 Feb 1888 at 8 Southwark Place Basford.  Bertie appears on the 1891 census with his grandparents at 1, Palm Street Basford but neither Sam nor Mary are listed.  I can't find Sam, Bertie or Mary on the 1901 census although John and Alice are still in Basford at 3, Suez Street.
Bertie married on april 22nd 1912 in Nottingham parish church of St John baptist and his father Sam was named on the marriage certificate.
Can anyone help me find where they were between 1891  and 1912

All I can suggest is a possible death for Mary

Mary Crosland Jun 1890 Basford, born abt 1862

Posible baptism Mary Jemima Hillory Nottingham St Mary 05/07/1865, birth 15/05/1862 to Margaret Hannah Hillory

There is a likely Mary in the 1871 with Thomas Hillery age 70 and Margaret 64, listed as daughter age 8. But this couple had a Margaret Hannah baptised at Nottm St Mary 03/12/1839 so most likely their grand daughter.

Hi Heather,  Thanks for replying.

You're right is does seem to be a sticky one  and I think you are right about Mary.
I will try to get a marriage certificate for Mary and Sam which will at least give me her dob and possibly her father's name.  Hopefully I might then be able to link her to Margaret Hannah Hillory.

Who knows maybe Sam and Bertie were with some members of her family on the night of the 1901 census.  If I ever do find out what happened to them I'll let you know.
