Highgate -What district?
« on: Sunday 18 November 07 17:40 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm trying to track down a birth certificate Ada Susannah King - born c1872 (give or take a year) in Highgate.

Having had a look on Free BMD there's several posibilities.  Can anyone confirm which registration district Highgate would fall into please?

Thanks

Dave

Hi, Bit tricky this one.

Highgate is divided between three London boroughs: Haringey in the north, Camden in the south and west, and Islington in the south and east.

Edmonton would seem to be the most likely registration district if that is what you are looking for.

Thank you both.
Unfortunately BMD doesn't throw up an Edmonton candidate.
It does give me Islington and Pancras though.  Do both of those sound reasonable as possibilities?

The only other possibility is Hendon - am I right in thinking that this would be too far west?

Thanks

Dave

It won't be Hendon.  Of the others, Pancras seems most likely, though Islington is just down Highgate Hill so not far away.  My Highgate ancestors were all registered in Pancras district.
