Great work!  I have Comfort Tew working as a nurse in the 1881 census.  Hope this is the right one.
No one calls their son's John in the family any more, they all have met a early death, even right up to 1962.  Very interesting to see there were twins.

Hope you are keeping warm? We are having summer now, long days on the beach.

Hi Sue

I have digressed a bit. I started to look for Thomas and it took a while but I think that I have eventually found him and his family on the 1891 and 1901 censuses.

I have also found the following passenger list which matches the census data but it is a year later than you said. So before I type out the census entries (if you do not already have them) can I just check that these are the correct people who sailed...

02/08/1912 Sailing from London to Wellington NZ on board the ship "Corinthic"

Tom Tew 48
Mrs Tew 48
Stanley Tew 17
Harold Tew 15
Dorothy Tew 13
Gladys Tew 10
Edwin (?) Tew 6
Maud Tew 20

If this is the correct family I will let you have the other details tomorrow if you want them.

DS :D

Cheers Annie

It is a pity that I cannot "get on a roll" with my own (possible) relations ;D

Yes that is my grandfathers family.  A bit  blown away by a new name (Edwin) I do not have him at all on the family tree.
I also have the 1861 census in front of me and on there is John Tew, but at number 44 there is a William Tew 51, I wonder if he is the brother of John?
I would like the 1901 census of Thomas, he has been a real devil to track down.
Thankyou to everyone for their help.

Sue

I think this is the same William, on earlier censuses....

Could this be the Thomas Tew and Mary Botterell that Mike mentioned earlier?

Very interesting, would be interesting to see who were at home with Thomas and Mary Tew on the 1841 census.  Wish they used different names instead of Thomas, Henry, George back then.
So the Joseph Tew I thought may of been John's father is not!  Still better hold on to his details just in case.  Who know's Joseph could be the brother of Thomas.
Leire must of been full of Tew's. 8)
