My Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother were Daniel Evans and Elizabeth Williams they moved from Groeswen Nr Caerphilly and rented Castellau Fawr from the Treherne Family.  My Grandfather (Daniel Emrys Evans) and father (Trevor Evans) often told stories of cows and chickens wandering in and out of the house through the windows (many of which were missing).  Gwen Evans was my grandfather's sister (there were a lot of Gwens in our family).  My Grandfather bought Castellau in the 1940s and restored it.  He later sold it back to the Treharne Family and moved to Llanmaes with his family.  My Grandfather (Emrys) married Gwladys Elizabeth Thomas who was born at Fishweir Farm in St Mary Church.  Her brother, Edgar Noah Thomas married Emrys' sister Gwen (a few of the brothers and sisters on both sides got married!!).  Farms in the Thomas family included Maes-y-Bryn and Dan-y-Bryn between St Mary Church and Llanmaes, Greenfields in Prisk nr Maindy and Fishweir (where most of the Thomas Family were born).   My father has kept birth, deaths and marriage information on most of his members of family from either the South Wales Echo or attendance at funerals, weddings etc (handy but a little maudlin) and next time I visit Glamorgan I shall borrow these to get more information.  I have done lots of research on the Evans, Thomas and Williams Familes but sadly my computer was flooded during the July 2007 floods and until my husband installs the hard drive on his new computer I cannot access the data yet and my memory is appalling. If you need any further information, as soon as I can get into the computer I can oblige if it helps.

Hi Su  ;)
Thanks for the message I can remember visiting your Grandfather & Grandmother at the Firs in Llanmaes when i was a small, and also they would come to Maes-y-bryn to see Edgar & Gwen and very often stay for tea. I know your father (*) , ask him about (*)   he used to do elec. work  when i was home on the farm with my dad David, but i know your uncle (*)  & knew your late uncle John very well, my dad rents summer grazing from (*)  at Sears Farm in St. Mary's Church. As you can see in this post any help on the Thomas or Evans family's would be a great help 8) 8)

Sorry for not getting back earlier.  I'm not sure at this stage.  As soon as my husband lets go of his precious computer (I'm on a laptop) I'll go into my records and compare them to your posts.  I have to say the answer is probably yes because my father is always saying that we can trace our roots back to nearly every farm in south Wales.  Let you know if I find anything and I'll interrogate my father too.

Good luck with your search.

Susan :)
