    Thanks for answering  no not sure of the date as i have found a relli and trying to check dates and places are right    I dont know this part of the tree

1871 census shows a margaret Knowles b. c.1862 Milnthorpe -with parents Robert and Ellen

1871 also shows margaret Knowles b. c. 1829 Hugill - parents Roger/margaret -this margaret fits with your detils for Margaret Greenhow-as she was b. c. 1829 Grasmere!

Have you got the daughters the wrong way around??

I didn't know margaret married - what other info do you have -and do you want the full 1871 census for margaret and Roger and family??

We can rule out margaret Knowles b. Hugill -daughter of Margaret and Roger -as she was still unmarried in 1901 and living with her father and some siblings -strangley enough in lancashire!!!!

Now this causes a little mystery!

1851 it seems John and margaret were living apart and Margaret was going by her maiden name !!!
Possibly it is because margaret was working as a servant and her employer hadn't changed her name (or didn't know she was married??)
Daughter mary arrived  1851 -so maybe margaret stayed on at work until she had the baby
Also John was living with his parents -although I suspect his mother was possibly his stepmother

Maybe these census will explain my suspicions!!!
