George YEATMAN. 1828-1910
« on: Wednesday 12 December 07 23:16 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I'm looking for the birth of George YEATMAN/YATEMAN. c.1828.
I have his marriage certificate, 1873, Australia, his age is 45, place of birth, Somerset, parents Thomas Yateman & Betsy JONES.
He arrived in Australia in 1855, age 26 on passenger list, "Lord Burleigh".
I have searched IGI and many other online sites but can find nothing.
It appears there are actually very few YEATMAN/YATEMAN families in Somerset, most are in Dorset.
Can anyone help please?
Leonie.

Thanks heaps Sue,
The online census doesn't show any Yeatman's so this is a great help.
It just goes to show, I really must get back to doing some transcribing work for FREEBMD, and I'll keep on looking for a birth for George.
Cheers,
Leonie.

Wow!
This ties a knot and begs a question.
My George was a shoemaker! But then what happenned to Emma? Did she die or did George scarper? Only George migrated to Australia in 1855.
I found a death for Thomas Yeatman, Sept quarter,1837. That wold include 26th July, Alli. Doesn't give age but could very well be George's father.
Thanks again Sue and Alli. I think this is pretty conclusive.
Cheers,
Leonie.

Hi Leonie,

I believe Emma is the sister of George, the relationships as listed are to the Head of the household.   :)
