Findlays of Fetteresso

I have just started my family tree and it seems that most of my family came from Fetteresso.  Is anyone else searching for the Findlay family?  I think I have got them traced back to 1700's.

Not specifically looking for Findlays, but if you come across any Watt's or Dorian's from Stonehaven/Fetteresso please let me know as that's what I'm looking for.

I have just looked through what I have on the Findlays of Fetteresso.

I have a William Findlay farmer, Bishopton Portlethen. 
His Uncle was William Duthie late sergeant Royal Artillery, d Stonehaven 01 Sep 1859 age 73.
William of Bisopton's father was William Findlay farmer Starmyre or Starmine, Riccarton, Fetteresso d 10 Sept 1846 age 63. His mother was Ann Duthie d. 18 oct 1866 age 78.

William Findlay (born 1786) and Ann Duthie (b 1791) had children

David d in infancy
Isobel B 12 April 1821 c 23 Apr 1821 Starmyre (or Starmine) Fetteresso d 22 Feb 1894 Springfield Cookney, Fetteresso
William b 26 June 1823 Starmyre Fetteresso d 11 Dec 1910 Mafeking Cottage Portlethen
Ann b 28 Nov 1825 Starmyre


William (b 26 June 1823) was a Farmer at Balquharn Portlethen, he married Helen Rae Milne 07 Dec 1851 Mill of Monquich.  She was born 08 Jan 1827 Nigg Kincardineshire d 09 Nov 1897 Balquharn Portlethen.

They had 10 children

Isobel Findlay (b 1821) married James Cooper.

I have lots of Findlay's of Fetteresso and I am sure they must all be related but I cannot find the connections. They are mostly buried together in Maryculter Old Templars Park.

I am descended from William Findlay born 1783 Nigg Kincardinshire.  He married Ann Melvine.  They were farmers at Brucewells Farm Fetteresso. William Findlay has been traced back to John Findlay b 1633 of Craigwells Farm Fetteresso.

I've just begun my search, but I can relate to the people you are talking about. I do believe I'll find I relate in more ways than 1. This is a little blurb from the other Findlay researcher:
William Findlay & 2 of his sons owned Findlay Dairies in Aberdeen. At various times they owned property in Portlethen area, named Bishopton, Balquharn, & Glasslaw.
Right now I'm trying to get the kids ready for the bus. I'll send you what I have in a little bit, hopefully even today!

Williamina Milne b. July 28 1842 Old Machar, ch. Sept 4 Nigg m. John Matthew b. Fyvie, his birthdate is all over the place from 1833-1842-my gr gr grandparents

William Milne b. abt 1818 m. Cameron Fullerton b. abt 1820

Elspet Fullerton who married John Milne is sister to Cameron.

John Milne was first married to Catherine Fotheringham. They had a daughter named Helen Rae Milne.

Helen Rae Milne b. Jan 8 1827 ch. Jan 13 Nigg m. William Findlay.

This William Findlay is the Dairy Findlay family.

Hi there!

I have both Duthie's and Findlays in my tree, although as yet unconnected from different branches.

My Duthies hail from Fetteresso/Dunnottar and I'm back to John Duthie born c. 1780. I'd be really interested to exchange any information on the families, in particular anything you might have on William Duthie of the Royal Artillery - I dare say there is a possibility,however remote, that he is perhaps sibling to my John.  It's funny the way the world works, I've just put my fathers' fathers' line on hold to look at my fathers' mothers' side, the Duthies 

I haven't started on my Findlays yet, I have my great grandfather Douglas Smith Findlay born in Prestwick, Ayr in 1893 but plan to work back from him shortly.
