I'm working today and so don't have my family details with me but he was working in the woollen mill trade as I recall.

There were woollen mills in Co. Kildare but I'm not certain how far they were from the Curragh. There were also mills in Devon and Quebec. Could the moves have been connected with the wool trade? Whereabouts in England was your great grandfather born?

He was born in Halifax West Yorkshire but lived in Bradford as well

Glad you took my advice to post here for the amount of advice received in such a short time.
There were Woolen Mills in Naas Co Kildare up to the late 1950s. Naas is about 9 miles from the Curragh.
