To search for church records in Ireland (if they still exist) you'll need more that the county he was from- any other clues as to location in Ireland?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Kennedys were in the following parishes when Griffith's Valuations took place in 1856 ...
 
Carrigallen, Kiltoghert, Kiltubbrid, Mohill, Oughterragh

If this is still of interest, I have a grand uncle Hugh Kennedy b. 1867, Leitrim, one of 12.  Father was Cornelius Kennedy and mother was Anne (King) Kennedy.  Do not have death record for Hugh.  He may have emigrated, along with my grandfather, to America, or possibly to UK.  Who knows?  Anyone here?
