Its probably not important to your research, but I thought I would give you the correct spelling on one of the names listed above.  Its Catherine McKenney that was married to Henry Buker. Their daughter Ella married Albert Edward Laxton and they had three children.

Hi there,

Am hoping to locate a William and wife Hannah LAXTON going to or in Canada.
Have heard they may have ended up in Ontario but not sure on that.
Possible Bourke Falls??? but only hear say at this stage.

I only know that Hannah was born 1835ish in St Ives, Huntingdon, England  (Hannah RYDER) and married William LAXTON in 1856 St Ives Huntingdon.

They were in Linconshire in 1861 census so must have gone after that.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Lilygirl.

Few extra bits not already mentioned:

1) William + Hannah & Family also appear in the England 1871 Census in Battersea (London), so must have migrated to Canada later that year.

2) The correct location of the family in Ontario is Burk's Falls (400km west of Ottawa)

3) William Laxton's Death certificate (d.1921), lists his parents as Thomas Laxton  and Mary Hardstaff

4) Hannah died 7 May 1920, Buried at Burks Falls. Cause of death: Accident. Fell off chair.

5) William died 26 Jul 1921. Buried at Burks Falls Cemetary. Cause of death: Old Age

HTH

Hi,

William and Hannah were my great-great grandparents. They moved to Canada with 6 children in tow, and had more in Burk's Falls. Their descendants are all over Canada and the US.  My mother, nee Laxton, has a picture of William and Hannah on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and most of the people mentioned in the posts responding to your querie are in the picture. My grandfather, Cedric. is about 8, sitting near his beloved brother Austin, who was older and tragically died, electrocuted, in 1919.  Irma, my mother's aunt, lived to be over 100 and only died about 10 years ago. She is in the picture as well, I believe. I am currently researching Hannah's ancestry in Little Shelford, Cambridgeshire. She was born Hannah Elizabeth Ryder. I would love to know if anyone has further information on the Laxtons side of the ancestral tree.

Welcome to Rootschat jayandmartin. Hope Lilygirl answers soon.
Not a lot of Laxton info online, altho a tree was started years ago it remains unfinished...unless it has several proven results I'd not take any of it to the bank...

There appears to be some Ryder info in this pdf http://www.rootschat.com/links/01g7b/

Here's a start...Seems his mother's name wasn't remembered properly on the death cert. She's Elizabeth, not Mary
William Laxton Birth Date 17 Apr 1834
Christening Date   20 Jul 1834 All Saints, St. John, Huntingdon, England
Father:Thos. Laxton  Mother: Elizabeth

1841 all born  Huntingdonshire
Thomas Laxton    Male age 45-49
Elizabeth Laxton     Fem  age  50-54
John Laxton         Male  age 15-19     b.12 July 1823
Ann Laxton          Fem  age 15-19  c.1825
Fanney Laxton     Fem  age 12  c.1829
William Laxton      Male  age 7
Not in houshold    Eliz. b 14 February 1817   Thomas 4 January 1820

Do you have all census info for them? Marriages? Perhaps Lilygirl has lots of completed info for you...if you do need any info let the researchers on here know and they can do some lookups
