Is it just the birth you're looking for or anything at all - do you still have family around the Maesteg area?

I'll pop around the local chapels if I get five minutes over the weekend - only problem is that at least two of the chapels in Nanty have long since closed - one is being turned into flats, and the other a women's gym! Can't remember off hand what denomination they are

Just a though, but Bedw Street is actually in Caerau (next part of the valley).

There was/is (will have to check the situation) a Welsh Independent Chapel in that street.

Do you know what number he was born in/lived in - I know it's a common name, but there are Jones' living at number's 9 and 25 currently. May be a long shot but some my family are still in one of the houses we were living in during the 1881 census in Maesteg

Ha ha - I'm doing this in work, so don't worry!

Looks like those people are not part of the same family then. Will see what I can do on the weekend.

Suspect it's too much to ask if you know if they're deceased and the dates?

I'd suspect given the DOB's that their buried in the main cemetary in Maesteg (although possible in Llan if they had a plot there).

I struck lucky last night on Genes Reunited, so looks like I'll be making another trip up there soon, so will have a nose around - never knnow, may find the grave and it may have other relatives noted - a few of my lot up there had their last addresses noted on the memorial
