Looks like a fantastic resource but the two surnames I need to search aren't available yet so I shall keep checking the site until they do appear.

does anyone know when the BMD indexes online, will be completed ? The surnames I am needing are not yet online. I used to go down to the Watt library quite often, and have found the indexes a great source, but due to family commitments and their opening hours, I am now unable to get down there.

Chrissy  send me a PM with the names you are researching and your email address -  I can then send them on to you.  Did that with kathy, and she didn't have any problems opening them up that way.

Gill I would email the watt library or the person who did the web site  and ask them

Yes, noticed it's been updated but the surnames I really, really want to see haven't been added yet. Will just have to keep waiting.

This BMD from the Watt Library holds alot of info.  Well done on notifing forum about it.

Unfortunately I cannot link up any of my family names, however it helped me to possibly identify the name of the place my ggg grandmother died as Prospecthill House (death Cert is hard to read.

Does anyone know what this was, I saw marriages registered there.....any info would be great.

This is a great resource and I have found some information to help me grow my tree.

However, I believe that the information comes from the BMD entries in the papers which were inserted by families - and would therefore be limited to those who could afford to pay for the intimations - plus from items of news and as such tend to be deaths due to accident, suicide and murder.

Sadly, the vast majority of people would not have had their hatches, matches or dispatches recorded, but it is certainly worth a look.

Another great source at the Watt is a surname index (including first name, occupation and age) for most censuses in the Inverclyde area.  This is great if you thing your relatives may have been in the area at the time but have no idea where they may have lived.
