Hi Genie,

I have a post diary re. Isle-a-la-Crosse, of 'a' William Linklater, from Manitoba archives via Kew dated 1806.

IF ( big if) that's my man.  ;D

This William is also referenced in Robertson's Journals.

Hi George,

just been reading up on William Linklater, HBC Factor.

If he is your man you have a lot of Meti relatives, he left his mark (so to speak) :D  around Isle-a-la-Crosse.

Then when the NWC muscled into the territory he must have gone back to Orkney.

Hi Genie,

I do (did have) have a PR Baptism of

"Andrew son of William Linklater and an Indian Woman"

Stromness or Sandwick I think it was, around 1808

I do wish the Cleric had written down her name instead of "an indian woman"

so sad.

Scan at 300 plus for restores please. Scan at larger dpi for small photos. Don't forget to crop the scanner bed out! (Them's the white bits)
Please feel free to alter any work by me for the benefit of the Poster.

Hi gadget  ;D

I wonder if Robina is not transcribed as Rosina ... i had entered Robina earlier and on original it was def. Rosina...maybe the'b' and 's' could be mistranscribed ...just a thought

I've not been putting a first name in just C*t*y - no place all dates  ::)

Then narroqing it down but so far - zilch.

Mary seems to have been the last entry for Nathanial and Margaret. It could be that the particular years of the OPRs are missing - it happened to me with my ancestors in KKd  :-\

I ahd to resort to the Session Minutes.

Hi ..

who does Grace age 5 in 1841, with Nathan and Margaret, belong to? She seems rather young to be their daughter, seeing as he was 80 and she was 50. ....errrr or am I confused LOL
