£7.  Some local registry offices charge a little more for postage though they might be quicker than the GRO at the moment.

Depends on the area also - what are you wanting and where from?

Hi, im wanting certificates for people born in west riding yorkshire 1901-1910. Also im wanting a marriage certificate in 1918.
For the birth certs can i specify that i only want the ones who have MR X and Mrs X as parents? Will they do that?
Do i send off for them by post/email?

Hi Alison

If you would like them to check that they are sending the correct birth certificate (ie specified parents) then it is  best to apply to the local registry office for those as they probably won't charge you anything if they don't find it.  There are a number of registry offices in Yorkshire - see this link to all of them - you can then phone and enquire about which type of payment they accept etc. or look to see if they have a separate website.

http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/wry.htm

However, for marriages some local registry offices don't have them indexed so won't search through all the various registers of chapels and churches in their area.  If this is the case, it is the only way to order them from the GRO online at £7 but you must have the index details.

Hope this helps

Yes, and the quarter ie. Sep 1912

The index numbers only apply to certificates ordered from the GRO though - not the local registry offices.  For the local registry offices, you will just need to give name, date/year and any other relevant info.

For Yorkshire W Riding, try Yorkshire BMD (http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk/). If you can find the record, it allows you to print off a page with the details of the district/book/record and I have found that I get a response within 2-3 days in general. Note of caution - don't assume that if you can't find your record there that it doesn't exist. There is a lot of transcribing going on and your records will doubtless be added in due course.
