SIT: SURNAME INTEREST not the table.
« on: Wednesday 23 January 08 04:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
may I make a sugestion?
Why not make a single TABLE?
There are 9 threads labled "Surname Interest Table" As far as I can see there is no TABLE. Now I'm not blind or stupid but when I go to a thread and it's cluttered with links to other threads and directions to find a link and directions to find a link to a link, I just turn off.
I'd love to add my names, but WHERE IS IT????
Cheers,
Leonie.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Is that what you want?

Yes it is a bit hidden Leonie.

On any rootschat page count up four lines from the very bottom of the page, and in blue almost in the middle of the forth line you'll find [Your Surname Interests].

If you click on that you will go to the page Dave has given a link for.

You're right, both of you.  It's not obvious.
When you read some of the older threads though, it took a lot of effort to get it that organised.

MODS. My comment for an improvement would be.........

Is there any way we could be alerted when someone adds a name that we already have on the SIT?  Perhaps there is already, and it's me that's "blind or stupid"

I suppose it's just a matter of regularly checking through "show all with my surname interests" to see if any matches have been added.

I think the SIT is a great idea, but I've never been contacted by anyone through it. I've contacted a few - no matches with a couple, and no replies with others ....

It's probably underused and needs a bit more promoting (moving it from the bottom to the top of the page may help perhaps?).

Leonie
Why dont you just look in the index ::). and  why dont folk send others to the index instead of giving them short cuts to it.Members will never learn how to use rootschat if they are given short cuts all time.
