Hi there

There is a description of the Silk Mills at Darshill on....

http://webapp1.somerset.gov.uk/her/details.asp?prn=24944

I belong to the Wiltshire FHS and this month there is an item about Emma Vaughan, there is a mention on silkweavers at Ditcheat in Somerset very close to Darshill in the National Gazetteer in 1868 according to the writer.

If there is anyone going to The Somerset Studies Library in Taunton there is a look written by Hollinrake, a local historian which mentions The Darshill Silk Mills. I asked at my local library.

It would be really interesting to see any photos of Darshill Mill. The poet Edward Thomas referred to it in the book In Pursuit of Spring and we (the publishers) have some photos which he took in 1913 which we're publishing in the new edition. There is at least one of a mill, but we don't know if it's Darshill as he didn't label that picture. Clues much appreciated!

Thank you, yes. I think the mills we are trying to identify are long gone. Either of these ring any bells?
