The indexes are available on the official Scottish site:

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Pay per view, but free to search.  You can then order the certificate from the GROS if you wish.

I have searched the Scotlandspeople index of births and the only Edna Stanley I could find was born 1910  Dumbarton in the County of Dunbarton.

thank you i did check that but i dont think its right. i know that edna stanley married joseph dillion in 1944 in derbyshire, chesterfield, but i was told she was b scotland and him ireland. i think i found his dad and it was jospeh grandad was i think was from irland so perhaps ednas parents or grandparents were the ones from scotland.

Hi,

Have you purchased Edna and Joseph's marriage certificate? It should tell you her father's name and occupation on it. It could be that her parent(s) were Scottish but she herself was born in England.

Hi Yogibear

Nothing showing unfortunately, even with wildcards for spelling variations.

Regards.
