1831 Census for Dunboe
« on: Sunday 17 February 08 23:18 GMT (UK) »
I have been looking at the link for the 1831 census on this site
there is a Solomon Giffen
townland Blakes
further down the page there is a
Mary Given .......Blakes
Joseph Given....Blakes
Thomas Given...Blakes
could the Solomon one be mis transcribed and actually say Given
I am in contact with another descendant of the family and from one of his
ancestors certs we know that they lived in Londonderry

It's quite possible that the name is either mis-transcribed or was spelled 2 different ways in the census.

If you give me the name of the church I'll check my list of what's available.

Two possibilities:

Second Dunboe Presbyterian Church: Session Minute Book 1835-68 contains birth, marriage and emigration information. Baptismal register starts 1864, marriage register 1845.

First Dunboe Presbyterian Church: Baptisms 1805-12, 1825-26, 1843-1949. Marriages 1845-62, 1863-1934

they were in Scotland by 1841

Would have thought that 2nd Dunboe is a good possibility. Finding anything in 1st Dunboe depends on whether or not the family went to that church. The dates given are for what records still exist. They are available on microfilm at PRONI and Coleraine Library but you could check LDS catalogue to see if they also have the records on microfilm.
