Hi,

We can certainly compare notes.

I'm researching
William Lees (1884-1922) m. Helen Currie
son of
Thomas Lees (c1853- 1902) m. Christina McEwan
son of
Oliver Lees m. Isabella Waldie

Whom are you researching with the LEES surname?

Cheers

Jamie,

Sorry but I doubt there are any connections between our Lees families. Mine only moved to Fife in the 1870s before which they lived in Midlothian.

Cheers

BETT/BEAT (1680s-1770s) - Crail, Aberdour, Dunfermline (John married Isabell Norrie 1709)
I have a Margaret Beat(t) or Bett who married William Malcolm, 25 May 1798 in Abbotshall. No more information than that, unfortunately.

Sorry but I doubt there are any connections between our Lees families. Mine only moved to Fife in the 1870s before which they lived in Midlothian.
I have Lees from East/Midlothian as well. John Lees married Elizabeth White 20 Sep 1794 in Whittinghame, had at least five children:

Elizabeth b1796

Archibald Lees married Janet Dudgeon 17 Mar 1827 in Gladsmuir, and Margaret Ritchie in Prestonpans 16 May 1856. They had at least ten children:

John, Adam, Peter, Elizabeth, John, Euphemia, Margaret, Archibald, James and Agnes Dudgeon.

Euphemia Lees married Andrew Sanderson 18 Jun 1862 in Edinburgh Parish. They were my great(x3) grandparents.

Interesting. I have an Elizabeth WHITE who married a David LEES b. 1830. Date and location of marriage unknown at the moment.

He was son of Robert LEES and Margaret COWAN. Robert was born in Dunfermline Fife in 1784.

Robert's parents were David LEES and Marion/Mary HAY, who had 10 children including Robert. The majority born in Dunfermline, Fife.

Do you know who your John LEES' m. 1794 parents were? Where is Whittinghame I am not familiar with it.

Hi Jamie,

A Google for:
GENUKI + whittinghame
finds
http://www.clerkington.plus.com/GENUKI/ELN/Whittinghame/index.html

This has a brief and a lengthy description of the parish (and the village), a map of where the parish is within East Lothian/Haddingtonshire, and a link to a modern day map.

Regards,

JAP
