Having 'poked' further into this line, I am looking to see if anyone has access into the SA records, please?
STOKES Richard, Harriet COWELL, Ann, Ellen, Jas, My, Amelia/Emily, Hrt arrived in SA 1839-08-24 aboard Somersetshire from London
In some transcriptions the wife's name on arrival is given as Priscilla. This confused me until I saw Richard Stokes marrying Priscilla, previously Hughes (nee Shakespeare, yes really) in SA in 1868. i think this information may have been collected much later, and they gave the name of Richard's then/known wife, who he was buried with.
Harriet Stokes (nee Cowell) died the previous year (1867), also in SA.
I'm trying to gather as much information on Harriet and Richard (and Priscilla, by default) as possible.
If anyone with member access to the SA records could see what additional information on the record is available for:
-Harriet STOKES nee COWELL's death, SA 1867
-Richard STOKES m Priscilla HUGHES, SA 1868
-Richard STOKES' death, SA 1886
-Priscilla STOKES nee Shakespeare's death, SA 1890
-Children of Richard born in SA with either wife (I believe P would have been too old to have children with Richard, but you never know)
I can see the free info as can anyone, but there is extra info marked 'members only'
I have found a photo of the headstone (P&R) and a photo of Harriet and Richard online, so the death dates are given for P & R there. I am more looking for parents info, location details etc. Searching for Harriet's burial also.
Son James (d 1898) m Marion Flemming (d 1914) in Cambells Creek, VIC in 1854 as previously posted. Still exploring information on this branch too, especially Flemmings.
