16th century marriage: Sharpey/Jefferay
« on: Sunday 09 March 08 18:52 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I'm seeking the date/place of marriage of John Sharpey/Sharpie/Sherppye/Sharpeigh etc. and Frances Jefferay/Jeffery/Geffery etc. which took place sometime between about 1570 and 1600.  The groom was of Cranbrook, Kent and the bride of Chiddingly and the fact of the marriage is recorded in the Visitation of Sussex records.

I can't find an entry in the Sussex Marriage Index or Cranbrook parish register.  Obviously, given the early date, there's a good chance that no parish register entry survives for this marriage but if anyone bumps into it I'd be very grateful.

Regards

Ruth
