Hi Peter !!  :)

St. Peter's church was demolished during the 1980s due to structural damage - a new church centre was built in its place ....... but you can still access the graveyards !!

If you check on

http://www.leodis.net/

and type in Gildersome - you'll  see some photographs of the village .... not many old ones though .... but then I found this ... but no pictures of the church .... don't know if you know the place at all ... but you may find something you recognise here !! ........ I'll keep looking !!

Annie ~ Dave

No, I don't know Gildersome, at all.

Thanks for the links. What I've been hoping to find is a picture of the old church, without any luck so far.

It looks like a Summer trip to Yorkshire becomes even more essential.

Peter, If you wish to visit the West Yorkshire Archives and Registry of Deeds for the Diocese of Wakefield (which includes Gildersome even though it is nearer Bradford) note that you need to book an appointment

Samueller.
Apologies for the delay in replying.
Thank you for that information (and the links)
I'll make sure that I do that.

Not sure if you are still searching but I was also searching for a photo of the church (how I came across this thread) and came across this web page.  It has lots of photos and history of Gildersome and may be of interest.
