Where in Scotland

Anyone any ideas how I could find out where in Scotland Margaret Ferguson (c1844) was born, she married John Ferguson, and 2 of her children where born in Scotland Joseph & Sarah Jane, but they then moved to Dalston in Cumbria and had Christopher, Jannet & Emma the last b.1877. would also like to find out her maiden name, but have no idea when John & Margaret where married.
Would be grateful of any ideas where to look.

Hi, I looked on LDS and couldn't find a marriage but found the following
Sarah Jane 14 Nov 1869
Joseph 17 March 1872
both Kilpatrick-Fleming, Dumfries
Mother shown as Margaret Irving (father John Ferguson)

There are various Margaret Irvings born around 1844 in Dumfries but this one stuck out as the father is Christopher (mother Ann Johnston)
b 23 Aug 1843, ch 22 Oct 1843 Kilpatrick-Fleming, Dumfries

You didn't say what John Ferguson's father's name was.  If their first son was named after his father, Joseph, their second, Christopher, may have been named after Margaret's father.

Just a thought but you have to explore all possibilities.

If you looked up the certs for the 2 births on Scotlandspeople it will state when the parents were married.

This will lead you to (hopefully) a post 1855 marriage and you'll end up with a big addiction to Scottish records!

Thanks to everyone who posted it is a great help, I was really struggling as I knew only my Grandmother's married and maiden name and that her Fathers name was John, I knew nothing about her Mother, or where they lived. So I chuffed to bits. Thanks.
