Hello Liz,

There are three items you require when searching for Irish ancestors.

1. Denomination.
2. Parish
3. Townland.

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

Here is a strange entry in LDS
James Jones, birth 1838, Armagh, Ireland
father George Jones, mother Margaret McConnell
death 7 Oct. 1879, Bright, Victoria
another child of George and Margaret is
Jane Ingram Jones, born 1832, Armagh Ireland
Death 1911 (no place given)
The dates don't fit your enquiry.
RosemaryJoan
Cully, Bannister, McConnell, Wallace (Co. Armagh)  Anderson, Ross (Co. Antrim), Gray, Truesdale (Co. Down)
McCormick (Killyleagh and finally Belfast)

Liz, looking at Griffiths Valuation in the Parish of Newtownhamilton I see a William living in the Townland of Cortamlat and a Mary and a Sarah in the Townland of Tullyvallan (about 2-3 miles apart).  Could this William be a relative?

Hello Liz,  Since William is probably a family name I looked up that William living in Newtownhamilton.  This is what I have found
marriage
William JONES to Margaret TAYLOR
on 5 February 1846
in
Newtownhamilton First Presbyterian Church,
Newtownhamilton, Parish
Castleblayney District,
Armagh
You can look at this marriage record in Armagh Ancestry for 5 euros.
It will give the father's names of both parties and also some sort of address.  Might be worth a look just to pinpoint the family whereabouts.
