John Sheldon 1887
« on: Tuesday 18 March 08 09:01 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for the birth of a John 'Sandy' Sheldon, Manchester United and Liverpool footballer. His birth place has always been given as Clay Cross but I am looking for the date. One source says April Quarter 1887 and another simply 1888, could anyone help please?

Heywood, many thanks for that, much appreciated. I am sure that is the right family, will check it out but I am sure in 1901 they will be in Nuneaton/Bedworth area of Warwickshire following jobs in the coal industry. If not I will come back for the Tideswell details.
