I may be able to put you in touch with descendents of Thomas Farren. This is an old message, so you may have already connected by now. I have a sneaking suspicion this is Missing Thomas
Immigration
SS Invercargill
S.S. INVERCARGILL Passenger List
Departing Liverpool 11 July 1878, 338 passengers
FARREN Thomas 22
Farm Labourer CUL
Single Passenger
Married- Mary Eliza "Polly" Saunders 1881, see pic ( note his gives his age as 22, which he clearly wasnt??)
This couple moved to Australia, where Tom died, 20 Dec 1914. they had several children
I am connected to the Saunders wife, and have not been in touch with my contact for sometime,
She believed that Tom was born in Rayhead? Cumberland, It is thought that the "Farren" clan came from County Donnegal on the North West Coast Ireland, and that some Farren's travelled across the Irish Sea to Cumberland to mine iron ore.
It is likely that William had other children, possibly a son known as Captain Farren who settled in South Africa.
William & Jane Farren and their children moved to N.Z and settled in Oamaru.( NB: I have never been able to establish this, so they may have never come to NZ, they dont show in any records here)
