Are these records in Guernsey......please!
« on: Tuesday 25 March 08 00:16 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

I am trying to track down the marriage between David Mitchell and Johanna Skinner.

David Mitchell was baptised in Jersey in 1798 and can be found on the 1841 Jersey census.  He was an Army Pensioner from the 57th Foot Regiment.

Johanna Skinner can be found on the 1841 Guernsey census, working as a ?servant for a family in "Putron".  She was actually born in Port Isaac, Cornwall, England.

In 1851 both can be found on the 1851 England census, married with children.

Therefore, they were married sometime between 1841 - 1851.

There is no record of their marriage in Jersey, as a fellow Rootschatter has checked.  Neither is there a record for their marriage in England.

Therefore, Guernsey is our last option.

Also, I am trying to track down a Francis Mitchell (David's father), baptism.  Again, no baptism record in Jersey, just his marriage to Esther Le Dain.

I would be very grateful if someone could check out the Guernsey records for me when they can find the time.

Many thanks
Kim
