Enoch FRANCE of Highley
« on: Wednesday 26 March 08 10:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,
Just a quick note wondering if anyone can help with any info on Enoch France of Highley ?
This is what I have so far -
Enoch was born Dec 1st 1861 son of William France -
The family moved from Highley to live at Potters Loade, Alveley
Enoch had a twin sister named Agnes, who accidentally drowned when a boat capsized on the Severn between Stanley and Potters Loade ( at 2 in the morning !) in Feb 1868
The family later moved back to Highley
Enoch married Charlotte Norgrove in 1885
Enoch and Charlotte had three children -William, Levi and Agnes.  William and Levi died young.
Charlotte died abt 1893 - then I can find no trace of Enoch !

Ring any bells with anyone ?
Any help much appreciated  :) :) :) :)

That's brilliant - many thanks :)
Such a sad life for him losing his twin, then his two children and then his wife ! - I wonder if he ever got remarried ?

Possibly yes! Have you seen this marriage on FreeBMD?

Sep 1907 Bridgnorth 6a 1339
Enoch France to either Elizabeth France or Alice Maud Summers

 :)

There are birth registrations in Bridgnorth as follows:

Unfortunatley that's his cousin !
He died in 1960. I wish I'd have had chance to meet him, everyone speaks very fondly of him. His wife died young too !
