I am trying to locate details of Hugh Evans, born appr.1796 in Llandiloes. He was a flannel manufacturer employing about 60 people in Llanllwchiarn, Newtown. Upper Bridge Street location.
I am particularly interested in his sons, John and Thomas, aged about 37 in 1861.
Thank you

Hi
I have had a look in 1851 and here is Hugh with his family living in Llanwllchairan, Montgomeryshire:-
HO107/2497, folio 311, page 39
EVANS Hugh, h, m, 57, Fnl mfr 60 men Upper Bridge Street, EVANS Marg't, w, m, 60,, Upper Bridge Street, EVANS John, s, u, 27, Independant minister, Upper Bridge Street, EVANS Jane, d, u, 26, Upper Bridge Street, EVANS Tho's, gs, u, 5, , Upper Bridge Street,
Hugh and Margaret were born in Llanidloes, John, Jane and grandson Thomas were all born in Newtown.
I can't find the sons Thomas and John in 1861 - as Peterej said, do you have any other information?

Peterej, thanks for looking. Is that address in Llanllwchaiarn? It seems a bit of a drop from 60 to 8 people?
Thanks again

I've had a look at 1861 and the Hugh Evans that Peterej listed for you looks to be the correct one. There are no other Hugh Evans that "fit".
Peterej - you did post the right one, the family I listed was from the 1851!!!!!!
I have had another look for the sons Thomas and John in 1861. I cannot see any John Evans, approximately 37 years old and there are no Johns listed as Independent Minister. Maybe he had moved away by 1861.
Do you have a year of birth/place of birth for Thomas? There are a lot of Thomas Evans listed so need the extra info to narrow the search.
