"Fun isn't it?"

Well ... it WOULD be if my internet connection could be relied upon. My download rate is pitiful at the mo and I don't know why, so it's damned painful waiting for these files to open!

So ... can anyone post a shortcut for me, please?

Looking for ...
Pashby in Levisham/Scarborough/Hackness
Bird in Easington/Patrington/Scarborough
Dobson in Scarborough
Sedman in Scarborough

Thanks for anything that tturns up!

Hello

This looks fantastic!

How are they organised? I'm feeling a bit stupid.....

Is there more then one pr per volume and how do you find out what is in each volume? Do you have to scroll through or is their contents somewhere?
Thanks

Claire

I think there is only one parish per volume.  A quick look at the TXT version is probably best for identifying the parish - it should be named fairly near the top.  The TXT version is smallest in size, but it's not good for much else - much of it is mangled by poor OCR software (judging by what I've seen of other volumes).

Don't forget you can download the PDF version of a volume as a one-off job and read it offline at your leisure.

In my browser (Firefox) I'd right-click on the PDF link and select "save link as ...".  Even if it took an hour to download it would happen in the background - I could be visiting other pages in the meantime.

I'd recommend the PDF version - the Adobe Reader program seems pretty good at OCR when searching for names, etc.
