I have the following info about the Walker family.
My Gt GT grandmother Ann Walker was born about 1815 in Manton (from censuses after her marriage to John Holland Trigg). I have baptisms for Manton up to 1812 - frustratingly - so unable to confirm Ann's birth & parentage from there.
However, I do know her father was John Walker, a labourer. ( from her marriage certificate).
On IGI, I have found 3 daughters born to John Walker and Anne in Manton 1807, 1809 & 1811, which I assume were Ann's sisters. Also 2 earlier children in Hambleton to a John and Anne Walker, 1803 & 1805, so they may be the same family, which moved to Manton c1806.
IGI shows a marriage in Hambleton for John Walker and Ann Weldon, 1802.
No John and Anne Walker appear on the 1841 or 1851 censuses in Rutland.
I found a possible John with a new wife, Sarah, on the 1851 census(John then aged 63, so a bit young, maybe he was vague about his age), a death for an Ann Walker registered 1847 under Oakham, Rutland - BMD indexes, and possible marriage for John Walker and Sarah Bilsdon 1850 - from BMD indexes. Haven't sent for the certificates yet, as not sure.
I included all the above to save you helpful lot the trouble of searching for info that I already had.
Can someone with marriage records tell me whether there were any other marriages for a John Walker to an Anne c1800-1807 in Rutland?
And does anyone have access to records which might show that the Ann/Anne Walker death in 1847 was the wife of John Walker? Her age at death would be an indication.
Also, can anyone confirm that a John Walker did marry a Sarah Bilsdon in 1850, and in which village or town?
Thanks for any info,
Laura
