coldstream guards

on a marriage cert i have a Henry YEADON occupation as "corporal in Coldstream Guards"
i cannot find him in the 1871 census.
is it possible he was abroad with his regiment????

Unlikely. Both Coldstream battalions were at home in 1871.

More likely his name has been mistranscribed somehow. You'll have to try being a bit more creative with searches!
Name interests: Boulton, Murrell, Lock, Croxton, Skinner, Blewett, Tonkin, Trathen.

I'd imagine both battalions would be in the London area.

I'll give you a few other names from the 2nd Btn, which might help you locate them. If you find the battalions, it's then just a case of scrolling through until hopefully you find him.

Officers:
Hon E E T Boscawen
Robert W W Follett
Surgeon J H C Whipple
Henry P C S Monck
Frederick Charles Manningham Buller
John Barton Sterling
Hon E A Acheson

These names are from the Army List 1878, but at least some must have been in the same Regt back in 1871.
