Hi All,

I thought I would revisit this following Ancestry's release of the Liverpool Electoral Rolls for 1832-1970.

Alexander and Rebecca are still at 22 Juliet Street, in the 1929/30 register and I know Alexander died on 30 June 1934 - his death registered by his brother.

My difficulty is I still don't know what happened to Alexander's wife Rebecca - can't find either a death or a re-marriage for her.

Would appreciate some fresh eyes looking at this - I am at a loss.

Thanks

Alan

svb111,

Thank you so much for your kind offer - it is the right couple and I have the information from 1911.
I know Alexander died in 1934 but can't find out what happened to Rebecca. I think they were childless, so this is the end of the line.

Thanks again

Alan

What does it say on his death cert re: marital status, informant?

Hi,

Alexander's death certificate doesn't help much. There is no mention of marital status.

He died 30/6/1934 age 57 - General Labourer. Address was different - 35 Burns Street, Bootle. Informant was his brother - A G Mungo Hanford Avenue, Walton (present at death).

This change of address from Juliet Street, may suggest Rebecca died before 1934 but there again the brother (Archibald) was at a different address in 1929/30 than the one he lived at in 1934 when Alexander died.

Rebecca's death is quite puzzling.

Hello,
In the newspaper snippets on FindMyPast, there is this reference:

July 1932
A handbag found on a North Wales Pleasure steamer identified as the property of Mrs Rebecca Mungo, 55 yrs of Llys Newydd, Dwyran, Anglesey, wife of a machinist and formerly of Liverpool.
Mrs Mungo is missing ....

Thank you Heywood - completely stunned by this- do you know where I might be able to get more details - Would there have been an inquest? - held in Liverpool or Anglesey/Caernarvon.

Accident or Suicide?

The newspapers reporting it are Scottish ones  :-\

You would be able to access the report which does seem to continue a bit,  through FindMyPast or The  British Newspaper Archive.
https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk
They are the same articles.
The Scotsman newspaper  continues that she booked a ticket from Menai Bridge to Liverpool...
They are all 28th July 1832.

Perhaps Anglesey archives might know if there are local papers http://www.anglesey.gov.uk/leisure/records-and-archives/

You would think that it would also be reported in Liverpool

A very unusual surname and I still can't find them!!

John Mungo (1842-1911) and his wife Diana (nee Brown) (1841-1900) had six children James 1868, John 1873, Archibald 1875, Alexander 1876, Jane 1880 and Agnes 1872.

Can't seem to see them after 1901 census, when the family were at 21 Romeo Street, Kirkdale.
A relative Rebecca Jones married Alexander in 1903 but then seem to have disappeared.

Can somebody solve the mystery for me?
