What are the details for your Aunt Martha?

Elizabeth Dodds Swan married I think in 1960 in Lanarkshire to Anthony McClay.

Monica

Added: Sorry, see you had the marriage already for Elizabeth. Entry showing as McClay rather than Clay.

Martha and liz are twins. That's as much as I know. Also I found a census with my Swan's at Muirhead there are 2 other houses with Swan's in the same street. Is it possible they could all belong to the same Swan's do you think?

I thought it was mcclay.

I don't know if this is any of your crowd.

Daniel Swan – Private 11348 - South African Infantry 2nd Battalion.

Daniel, born 1888, son of David Swan, of 268 Pretoria Place, Dykehead, Shotts.

“Mr. David Swan, 268 Station Road, Shotts, was officially notified that his son, Private Daniel Swan, of the South African Force, died of wounds on the 24th September 1917 in France.  Private Swan had previously taken part in West and East Africa campaign.”

Private Swan was killed in action on Monday 24th September 1917 during the Third Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele). He was part of the South African Brigade, 9th Scottish Division.

Private Swan is buried in Nine Elms British Cemetery, Poperinge, West Vlaanderen, Belgium, Plot I. Row E. Grave No. 7 and commemorated on Shotts War Memorial.

Turns out Martha and Elizabeth were not twins as I thought. They were sisters born in the same year, one in January one in December

I too are seeking living members of the  SWAN family from West Benhar, Eastfield and Whitburn.
I am doing the leg work for my friend whos mother was Jane SWAN born 1909 Fauldouse to david Swan Miner and wife Maggie or Margaret STRACHAN.

David died 12 May 1930 at Gasworks Lane Whitburn West Lothian  his wife remarried a Andrew McAlpine. She died in 1937 result of a fall.

In the 1911 Census the family were at 8 Gasworks Lane Whitburn. census shows
married 24 years and 12 children with 9 alive.
Both parents were born in Ireland married in West Benhar 10 Aug 1887.

So far I have Maggie born  about 1889 in North America
Agnes   born   do     1890     Shotts Lanark
                   Samuel born            1891     Ireland  married
Mary Ellen               1893     West Benhar  Lanark
                   Annie                      1893     Shotts Lanark
                   William                    1896     Harthill Lanark
                   David                      1900     Shotts Lanark
                   Francis                    1906     West Benhar  Lanark
                   Jane                        1909     Fauldhouse Linlithgow
Samuel married Alice McFarlane Lees he died March 30 1952 at Croftfoot Drive Fauldhouse. I dont have the marriage info just what is on SP for the death.

William married Catherine McFarlane 30 Dec 1921 at Gateside Whitburn his address was 12 Gasworks lane Whitburn.

Jane married a Williamson and was divorced (I have not found a record of this marriage or divorce) and remarried an American Seaman and moved to Canada where she died.
One of her children would like to get in touch with his mothers relatives.
