The Thirlwall family
« on: Monday 17 January 05 12:12 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have the family tree for the Thirlwalls of Thirlwall Castle ?

Does anyone know anything about John Thirlwall esq of Alnwick who was the uncle to Bishop Connop Thirlwall of Wales ?

About to look through 1841 Alnwick again, what was your other search name apart from Thirlwall?

You are a star - thankyou so much.

I am sure that it must be the right John Thirlwall I have the will for as he died in 1847 which would have made him 93. In his will he mentions lots of Carrs so you have given me plenty to work on. They all seem to have owned land in some way. There are also mentions of ties to the Northumberlands of the castle.

I understand the eyes bit as I am having the same problem trrying to decipher the handwriting on the will.

Thanks again

You're welcome!  Don't forget ages were rounded down in 1841 so he probably is the right one.
Good luck with the rest of your research, Barbara

Hi I'm busy researching my family tree. I also have some thirlwells in my family from Tanfield, Durham.

If possible, could you please email me a copy of the family tree & photos.

Many Thanks Mark
