Newly discovered children
« on: Tuesday 18 January 05 20:15 GMT (UK) »
John Hills married Charlotte Linzell in Cheshunt in 1853.

In the 1861 census they were living in Russell St., St.Andrew the Less, Cambridge with their children John L.Hills,3, and Susan C.E.Hills, 9 months, both born in Cambridge.

I have now found on IGI 3 earlier children: William ch.6.1.1856, Alice Mary ch.19.1.1855 and Sarah Catherine Ellen ch.31.3.1861, all christened at St.Pauls, Cambridge.     I have found a possible death of William, aged 0, in 1856.    Their parents are given on IGI as John Hills and Charlotte.

Is anyone able to find whether this is Charlotte Linzell and/or when the other children died?  They do not appear in the 1871 census.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

22 Jun 1856 William Hills 8 mths Cambridge St Paul

It would not surprise me if Sarah C.E. and Susan C.E were the same child.  What chance Susan C.E. aged 9 months on 7 Apr 1861 having a younger sister Sarah C.E. christened 31 Mar 1861 who died before the census?

Many thanks.  You're probably right about Sarah/Susan.
Susan is the correct name - she lived to adulthood, married and emigrated to Australia.
