Hi Annie

Problem solved!

I have just found a post from the grandson of William Rodaway (who enlisted at 16)  on the Great War Forum.

If you read the last post from tonyblackpool (October 07) you will see that William is his grandfather and Frederick who died in 1916 is his great grandfather. He obviously has all the certificates to enable the name to be put right.

The link is here.

Hi Annie

Well, Sherlockette is a new one for me and I like it much better than the names I usually get like stubborn, persistent, belligerent and rotweiller! I will have to tell my 'friends' that one.

I'm really glad to have been of assistance and I hope you get Frederick sorted out soon.

Did you notice in the thread on the GWF that after William was sent home at the request of his mother, he joined up again and shipped out! Another persistent little b...er!

Kind regards

Ruby

Hello Annie

Went to the Town Hall today and got a photo of F Rodaway's details from the WW1 memorial room. Unfortunately it does just say Rodaway Pte F. Also the flash on my camera has obscured the essential detail but just in case here is the photo.

A man at the town hall has taken my email and is going to send me the database with all the names on. When I get it I'll forward it on to you.

Regards

Hi Annie

I now have the spreadsheet with all the names, both army and navy. It is 1.51 mb.

If you pm me with an email address I'll send it over.

Glad to be able to help.
