bushido...

there are 5 Minnie Welch's in that tree....and one of them is your Minnie Welch who married Harley Gunter...because Harley is also in that tree.

Not sure how you are viewing the tree...but..they are certainly there so the info I gave you is correct.

Though it doesnt show Harleys parents..it does give us leads to find anothe way round to find out who his parents were.

No the link you gave me was the correct people.. but the tree you put in the post (not in link form) had wrong date of birth.

I actually started another thread, and I have found, with the help of members here, that Pascal Cyreen Gunter is Harley's father. He had two wives with a grand total of 21 children. Harley being the second youngest to the first wife, but he had 12 younger siblings. Making him number 13. I would probably run away as well *chuckles*

1900 census was found of a Harley Gunter being 5 living with a Pascal Gunter in Swain Co., NC with a birth date of April 1895. Then 1910 census of a Harley Gunter living with a young couple, wife named Rebbecca (Becky) Prince, who is identified as his sister. Time lines all match up.

Pascal moved to Idaho with the Mormons in the late 1800's sometime. Here is his grave with all his childrens names.http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=pv&GRid=24059391&PIpi=9056826

Right now I am pretty stoked that I finally figured it out who the parents of Harley were.

So.....was I of any help?

All info on US Gunter's is of use to me....if it turns out John Gunter b.1624 can be proved to of emigrated to the US c.1644. Then the links I already have will be valid.

I am of the belief that John DID emigrate to the US..but proof would be great.

There is also the link to John Gunter after whom Guntersville Alabama was named.
He married the daughter of Indian Chief Bushyhead or the Red Paint Clan.
He changed her name to Catherine....She was decended from Pocahontas's sister.
And were the great grandparents of US actor comedian Will Rogers..who died in a plane crash in 1935.

;D  Hello all! My name is Marcie Gunter Caudell, I am an author as well.
This may help some of you. This Gunter line is my family line as well, and I have been researching it for sometime.

In google books you can look up the following:

- "Illustrated History of Brecknockshire" 1886

It helped me greatly in my research ;)

Also,

-"Miscellanea , Genealogica et Heraldica" 1877
- "LLoyd Manuscripts" 1912

~* Marcie ;D

Hi Marcie....welcome to rootschat!

Are you in the UK or US?

The thing is ..so I have found ..99% of US Gunter believe they are related to the Gunters of Wales..And most seem to believe they come via John Gunter 1624 who is said to of emigrated to the US in 1644.

And I have been told that there are NO conslusive records to prove he did..This means...are those in the US related to the Gunters of Wales?...or are they of German Gunter lines which came from the UK.?

Dispite the lack of concrete proof.. I believe he did..but like others.. would like it proven to some degree.

So..connecting any US gunter to the Gunters of Wales..is speculative.

I have my line from my great grandmother's Gunter back to 1055......but I am in the UK..Scotland to be percise..though moved here in 06 from England.

Very few US Gunters claim to be from any other Gunter than John..so seems my experience of those in the US I have corrisponded with. They all seem to want to make a connection to John.

I have looked through at least one of the books you mention..should take another look.

Paul
