igi - Marriage of ROSE / JONES

according to the igi william rose married ann jones in shere, surrey on the 16th july 1803.
i have the surrey marriage index on cd and it is not on there, and i have a transcription of the parish registers of shere (st james) on microfiche and it is not on there.
what would be the likely conclusion............ just am omision ????

Is it an extracted record or submitted?

If submitted could be guess work and the marriage occurred somewhere else.  If extracted - hmm not sure what the answer to that is apart from a omission.

Well it wouldn't be the first ommission I have found on the Surrey Marriage Index, the first edition CD in particular does have gaps but why it is not on microfiche I am not sure.

Maybe best to check back with the originals at Surrey Family History Centre at Woking if at all possible.

Added - I don't know Shere very well but is there a possibility of another Church?

i think i will have to.
perhaps when the transcription was made it was faint/unreadable, but the LDS made it out.

Always best to go back to the original IMHO. 

As much as I like the Surrey Marriage Index and it is very very useful it doesn't have a lot of the detail on such as witnesses that you can find on the originals as I have been finding out recently looking at PRs.

it's just a blooming pain though.
until i retire my chances of getting to these places is v limited.
i have already paid devon record office researchers for info which was money well spent however,  but the pit is not bottomless unfortunately.

Surrey Marriage Index transcribes his name as BOSE.  It was by licence - licence is listed as William Rose (see LMA).
