In the absence of any censuses  ::)...Catherine died in 1886 in Camlachie Glasgow aged 38. Husband William reported the death. Parents James Anderson, coal miner and Jessie Burnside.

Now with info from the death certs, this is at least one confirmed census. William's address in 1891 matches the one he gave when reporting mother's death. Mother, slightly older that age reported at death:

Wm Anderson 53, Packer Cloth Warehouse, b. Pollokshaws, Renfrewshire
James Anderson    17
John Anderson    15
William Anderson 7
Archd C Anderson 5
Elizabeth Anderson 1 Mo
Janet Anderson    81, mother, formerly weaver b. Pollokshaws, Renfrewshire
Elizabeth Nicol (Anderson)  51, sister, formerly weaver b. Pollokshaws, Renfrewshire

Address: No 11 Annfield St, Dennistoun

So the Twister in 1862 became a coal miner by 1886 - I come from a line of coal miners and I don't recognise the term as a mining occ.

No sign of the Buchanans? I think Lara was keen for us to follow up William Buchanan.

The only William (shoemaker) and Catherine combination that I've found so far on the 1871 are a William (34)  and Catherine (30) Buchan in Ellon,  Aberdeenshire  but it's not them  :-\

I think the twister may well be miner Gadget on a clearer image  ;D

This looks like them on the 1841, with the names we now have:

James Anderson    40, coal miner
Jannet Anderson 30
James Anderson    15
William Anderson 3
Elisabeth Anderson 1

Address: Baydstan, Eastwood Renfrewshire

Regarding the Buchanans, William and Catherine's family no sign as yet. I've also checked the 1881 census on SP for Catherine and nothing is showing as yet...

Slow down. I think we have to keep to the Buchanan's.  Lara was keen to follow William b.c. 1838 up and it's getting mixed up with Andersons. She's new to this and might wonder what is going on.

We're looking for his parents - Robert Buchanan, baker and Jane McKinlay

Hi Gadget and Monica, and all that are helping.
Thank you very much for the latest info. Its incredible.Yes it did all get a bit behond me but now Im upto date and sorted it all out.Do you think it possible to find Robert Buchanan - (the baker)s father and Jame Mc kinlays.
Even if its possible to go farther back that would just be wonderful.
I think I have all the latest from you,the last being the listing of the Buchanan line. But at the bottom of my page it says internet explorer can show a page,so dont know if thats just a funny thing going on with my computer or if I have missed a page. :)
Thanks again, hope to talk to you again soon.Lara.
