From the research in above links, and through talking to my aunty:

Charles O'Brien married Catherine News- they were the ones who came over on one of the ships.
One of their daughters was Lucy O'Brien, who married Timothy O'Driscoll
They then had Julia O'Driscoll and a few others
Julia then had Mary (my grandmother), however Mary I believe was brought up by Lucy and Tim.
Mary married my grandad and became a Moran
They then had 6 kids, one of which is my mother.

I think that's how I fit into the equation :)

Hi again Moonshine,

Still can't find a birth for Lucy ... have found other children of Charles O'BRIEN and Catherine NEWS ... the first five were born in Lurgan, Co Armagh. Catherine was b. on "Queen of the Colonies" 1863 and the others were b. in Qld.

Did find the marriage of Lucy O'Brien to Timothy O'DRISCOLL 1892 Qld.

I wonder where and what year Lucy was born?

Would you like the information I have on the family?  I will send my email address through a personal messsage so just let me know.

Really pleased to have found another descendant ;D

Gail

Hi to all
I am away until mid November, unable to send any information until I get home. This is just to let you know I am still around and would still  love to help
My hubby's grandfather John Joseph OReilly who married Annie Agnus O'Brien donated the ground on which St. Catherine's church was placed.Yes she did perish in a fire, her cloths caught fire and they couldn't save her.Has any one confirmed that the church went to Toowoomba? would love to know.
Happy hunting

Still appears to be at Moggill

St Catherine's - 3356 Moggill Road, Moggill

http://bne.catholic.net.au/asp/index.asp?pgid=11566

ADDED

Accordinging to this link there was a previous St Catherine

http://www.rc.net/brisbane/ourladyrosary/

The Jesuits arrived in Toowong in 1916 and for almost ten years ministered in an area covered by the present parishes of Toowong, Kenmore, Indooroopilly and St Lucia. The last three of these became a separate parish in 1924, and the first Catholic chuch in the Kenmore area was the original St Catherine’s on the corner of Grandview and Moggill roads.

Hi, just wanted to say a big thankyou to Gail for the information she sent regarding the O'Brien family connections.

Jenn, thankyou for your lovely welcome message - I can provide the following:

Charles O'Brien and Catherine News' son James O'Brien married Hannah Mary Hall in abt 1896. Their daughter, Edna Averil Vivian O'Brien was born abt 1902. Edna is who I am particularly interested in. She is a bit of a mystery lady.

According to the Historical records on the Dept Justice website, Edna married a William George Higgins in 1924 but by 1936 she was on the Electoral Roll as "married" to Leonard Corlett PYE. She went on to have a number of children to Leonard. Leonard himself had a first marriage, and it appears his first wife left him with their eldest son, taking the daughter with her and moving in with another man. He was apparently bitter about this to his dying day. I am unsure when and where Edna passed away - not sure whether this is because I am not looking in the right places or whether she went under a different name.

I am after any further information on Edna Averil Vivian O'Brien (Higgins, Pye)....

Thankyou
Kind regards
Timna
