Hi Maxine,

My name is Erin MacDonald. And I have just recently discovered that my great great grandmother was called Bridget Culhane. She was born circa 1854 in Limerick and arrived in Australia in 1875 on a ship called the "Ramsey". Her parents were James Culhane and Catherine Murphy. I don't know much more than that as it seems she emigrated alone on that ship. She married my g/g grandfather, Patrick Kinnane who was originally from County Clare. Have you any further information on the Culhane side?

Thanks,
Erin

Hi Jenn,

She arrived in Queensland, most probably Brisbane. She and my g/g grandfather lived and raised their family in the Ipswich Area.

Hello again Erin
I have to say that I have not confirmed any of this information a yet as I have not yet looked into the Culhane family tree too much but will tell you what I have discovered and you can research further.
William O'Brien Mar. Annie Mary Culhane St Mary's R.C. church Ipswich 01.081900(my hubby's gg grandparents)
William's younger brother Francis Joseph O'Brien mar. Bridget Mary Culhane same church in 1901
I haven't checked that they were sisters but looks highly likely?
When I traced Annie Culhane I found John Joseph Robert Culhane father and Mary Margaret Smith mother.mar same church 1866.
John Culhane's parents show as James Culhane bdm in Ireland married Catherine Murphy Ireland.
I also found James Culhane may have married twice?
John Joseph Culhane born abt 1845 Ardlaghan Limerick
died 16.06.1917 Pine Mountain.
So are details are alike in some ways but needs more research, hopefully some of this can help you along the way.
If you find we are connected( that Annie and Bridget are sisters) I will have more details to share with you.
Moving house this weekend so no internet, will reply ASAP
Regards Maxine

Hi again Maxine,

I hope your move to the new place goes ok. I know how horrible moving can be!

I think that my Bridget Culhane was the sister of John Joseph Robert Culhane. As her parents are James Culhane and Catherine Murphy as well. I know that she was born somewhere in Limerick, Ireland in about c.1854. She married my G/G grandfather, Patrick Kinnane in 1883 in the Ipswich area. They had six children. So there is a small connection possibly? I am continuing my search on the Culhane's this weekend though.

Thanks again for the info!

Erin
